Painting Live: Tom Polo

part of Art

Sydney artist Tom Polo creates a dynamic and playful large-scale wall painting at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.

Taking over the gallery’s entrance court during the Spectrum Now Festival, this spectacular project unfolds entirely onsite. Visitors to the gallery can watch Polo’s unique creative process, engage with the artist and see the work transform from beginning to end.

The live painting will be inspired by Polo’s daily observations at the gallery – a detail of architecture, a specific colour or shape, the facial expression in a portrait, a snippet of conversation, a historical reference or an encounter with a curious visitor. The end result will provide a fascinating visual record of life at the gallery, imparting new perspectives and fostering new connections.
